Vera L. Lewis, 72, of Cassopolis, MI, died Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Vera was born on April 27, 1943 in Dale, Arkansas to Willie and Scottie (Veasley) Norman.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara Gates, Elkhart, Linda Saxton (Robert), Niles, MI, and Mary Searcy, Cassopolis, MI; Son, Robert Loftin, Elkhart; 13 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Willie Norman, Jr., Michigan City, Jimmy Norman (Sandra), Elkhart, Louis Norman (Jessie), Chicago, James Norman (Tonya), South Bend, and Tommy Norman, Jr.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Lewis, 4 brothers, and son-in-law, James Gates.

Vera, a very spiritual woman, was a member of Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to cook and enjoyed her family. She was a great hearted woman and was helpful to everyone.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. (Noon), Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Nichols Cossey officiating. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
