ALMAS (Starritt), Sylvia Bella - April 14, 1944 - December 15, 2007, passed away suddenly at her home in Salt Springs, Pictou Co., on December 15, 2007. Formerly of Bass River, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Henry and Pauline Rosemond (Ogden) Starritt. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Russell and is survived by her son, Charles and his partner Susan Telford, Salt Springs; daughter, Valerie, Hamilton, Ont.; granddaughter, Theresa Norris, Truro; brother, Martin (Barbara), Bass River, Cameron (Judy), Beaver Bank; sister, Lynn (Gary) Selkirk, Truro; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Following her husband's death, she studied to become a Personal Careworker and had been employed with Shiretown Nursing Home in Pictou where she continually showed love and understanding to the residents there. She had a passion for jewelry and was Elvis' greatest fan. She was looking forward to her upcoming retirement and to a vacation trip to Graceland in her new car this summer with her sister Lynn. Sylvia was a loving and caring person always putting others needs ahead of hers, and she will be sadly missed and often thought of by her family and friends. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Mary MacDermid officiating. Interment will be in Gladstone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one's choice.
