FARMER CITY — John L. Reeser, 91, of Monticello, formerly of Farmer City, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 18, 2015) at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Weldon United Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Weldon United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City.

John was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Farmer City, a son of Raleigh Dean and Grace Pearl Meradith Reeser. He married Geraldine I. Wissmiller on Oct. 20, 1945, in Bloomington. She passed away Jan. 9, 2015.

He is survived by one son, Philip D. (Kitty) Reeser, Monticello; one daughter, Janet E. (Ron) Haight, Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Sabrina (Jeff) Cross, Cassie Reeser, Gretchen (Jared) Strasser and Ginger (Patrick) Gavin; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Reeser.

John was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Weldon United Methodist Church, DeLand Masonic Lodge and Bloomington Consistory.
