Funeral services for Katherine Eve Garrard-Garrett, of Gadsden, who departed this life on Thursday, March 21, 2013, in Gadsden, will be at 3 p.m. today at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel. The Revs. Anthony Copeland and Charles Israel will officiate. Interment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge of services. She was a wonderful and loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful and dedicated charter member of Eastside Baptist Church. Mrs. Garrett was a graduate of Gadsden High School and played the trumpet in the Tiger Band. She was retired from the General Times Company. Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her parents, John Samuel and Annie Belle Garrard; and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Boykin C. Garrett; children, Kokahlene (Boyd) Minton of Hokes Bluff, Linda (Joe) Payne of Newnan, Ga., Charles (Melonie) Garrett of Leesburg, Ala., and Tommy Garrett of Gulfport, Miss.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Tommie Sue Givens. Pallbearers will be family. Special thank you to Ms. Ruth for her loving care, Alex Bannister and all of Gentiva Home Health Care, and the doctors, nurses and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center in SICU.
