He was the husband to Grace (Wheaton) and father to thirteen children, ten lived to adulthood. He would play his favorite song, "Those Golden Slippers" on the piano. During the war he met his brother Walter over seas. After his wife died, he married again to Bessie Johnson a widower herself. They had no children together. After mowing the lawn, he sat in the chair to rest then fell over and died. cause of death: massive heart attack
