Sarah Catherine Stuart, 94, formerly of Greensburg, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care of Columbus. She was born on November 11, 1920 in Greensburg, the daughter of Eldridge Gentry and Pearl Estella (Grimes) Elliott. She was raised in Milford, in 1930 she moved to a farm near Letts and 1996 she moved to September Place in Greensburg. She graduated in 1939 from Letts High School. Sarah had worked at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department and also as a nurse’s aide at nursing homes. She had attended Letts United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and doing art work.

She married Thomas M. Stuart in Greensburg on May 13, 1939 and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1997. Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Sue (Joe) Caplinger of Freetown and Ellen Louise (Dennis) Bushhorn of Westport; her sons, Jackie Lee Stuart and Joseph E. Stuart both of Greensburg; her 14 grandchildren, her 36 great grandchildren and her 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Thomas M. Stuart, her sisters, Edith White, Juanita Hobbs, Iva Hobbs, Rachel Franklin and Martha Robbins; her brothers, Sam Elliott, Loriane Elliott, Roscoe Elliott and Melvin Elliott.

The funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral home with Rev. Gary East officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Aerie Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
