OBITUARY - The Glasco Sun - Glasco, KS
Robert S. Melton was born in Mercer county, Missouri, May 27, 1866, and departed this life at the home of his son, Robert Melton, in Ottawa, KS, at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 17 days. He was united in holy matrimony to Anna Bloom, September 12, 1887, in Princeton, MO, who preceded him in death December 24, 1939. To this union six children were born, five of who survive. They are Perry of Onamia, MN; Jarvis of CA; Robert of Ottawa, KS; and Mrs. Dora Adams of Simpson, KS, and Mrs. Ethel Beck of Glasco, KS. He was reared to manhood in Mercer county, MO. In 1907, he moved with his family to a farm near Cawker City, KS. Later they moved to Simpson, and in 1921 moved to Franklin county, KS. In his early life he was baptized in the Baptist church and joined the church.

Besides his family he leaves to mourn his going, four brothers and one sister, thirteen grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Mr. Melton was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father, a good neighbor, always willing and ready to assist anyone in time of need.
