Emma Lee Spence Farrar departed this earthly life to meet God and her loved ones on Monday, March 22, 1999, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Browns Summit.

Emma was born on May 3, 1927, in Wake County, Holly Springs, NC. She was the daughter of the late William Rayford Spence and Ina Pearl Terrell Spence. Emma was one of two children born to this union. She was preceded in death by her sister, Glenora Spence Thomas on Jan. 23, 1999. She was married to Loyce Farrar on June 18, 1955. He departed this life on Oct. 14, 1997.

She leaves to celebrate her life, two aunts, Ruth Barham of Baltimore, Md. and Ruby Jones of Sims, NC; one uncle, Oliver Dunston of Chesapeake, Va. She also leaves four nieces, Ramona Thomas-Latimore of Dunn, Shelia D. McDonald of New Hill, Sonia M. Franks of Holly Springs, and Rosa M. Thomas of Raleigh; three nephews, Vincent G. Spence of Raleigh, Tony T. Thomas of Raleigh, and Theodore R. Thomas of Goldsboro. Her precious memory will also be cherished by six sisters-in-law, Ethel Jane Farrar of Boston, Mass., Jeanette Farrar of Greensboro, Juliette Farrar of Atlanta, Ga., Pauline McCain of Browns Summit, Doris McKnight of Philadelphia, Pa., and Catherine Williamson of Reidsville; three foster sisters-in-law, Dorothy Williams of Boston, Mass., Ann Thorpe of Boston, Mass. and Rosalie Canfall of Greensboro; two brothers-in-law, Alonzo McCain of Browns Summit and the Rev. Anthony Farrar of Greensboro, survive her. Also to hold a special place in her heart, she leaves Misty Bigelow, her god-daughter. She also leaves to cherish her memories countless numbers of other friends and relatives.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, March 26, 1999, at Brown's Funeral Service. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church dining hall following interment.
