Mrs. Aldridge was born in Dereno, Santa Fe County, New Mexico on February 7, 1919, to Ira D. and Stella (Sawyers) Core. Her family later lived in Arkansas, where she started school. They moved to Colorado when she was 7 years old. The family lived on a ranch on Horse Fly Mesa in Ridgway, CO. They then moved to Cedaredge where she finished school and lived until her death.
She married Charles L. Aldridge on December 6, 1936 at Eckert, CO. They shared 53 years together before Charles’ death in 1989. Edna was also preceded in death by her daughter, Edna Marie (Dolly), in 1956.
Edna was a homemaker and farm wife. She raised a large garden every year, preserving the produce for the family. She liked to fish and picnic on Grand Mesa. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Edna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked as a volunteer at the Cedaredge Pioneer Town for several years.
Edna is survived by three daughters: G. Ann Aldridge, Lenda I. (Dan) Geolfos and Ricky Lea Aldridge; son, Bud (Sue) Aldridge; brother, Ira D. Core; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cedaredge, CO.
Interment will follow in Cedaredge Cemetery.
