6 Sept 1934
Lisle Troxell, age 19, son of Henry Troxell, was shot in the forehead by Logan Hancock, age 18, son of Vestus Hancock, at the Fair Grounds, last Thursday afternoon and died in the Rice Hospital a few hours later.
Hancock was arrested and was given an examining trial yesterday and held to the grand jury. Hancock claims the shooting was accidental, that they were throwing up their hats and shooting at them, while the officials state that Troxell's hat was on his head when hit and that he had been shot under the arm the bullet going through his shirt.
Troxell was buried at the Alexander Cemetery Friday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by Rev W. P. Gordon, pastor of the Methodist church.
