Dorothy married Donald Housel on November 24, 1937 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They were married 6 days short of their 59th anniversary, when Don passed away. They became parents of six children and raised their family in Lincoln.
Dorothy babysat many children over a sixty year period and remembers many of them fondly. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years.
One of the things she was most proud of was earning her high school diploma on May 18, 1976. Dorothy was a very strong person and as many of her grandchildren said over the years, "Grandma is tough and funny". The family would like to thank Aging Partners for making it possible for Dorothy to stay in her home.
She is survived by: son, Willis (Gretchen) Housel; daughters, Barbara (Earl) Jarrett, Donna (Don) Townsend, Jeanette Emert (Jack Wheat), and Gloria Housel; brother, Harold Dennis; grandsons, Jeffery Boyles (Paula), Bruce Reinhardt (Lauri), David Blasingame, Donald Blasingame (Cheryl), Chip Jarrett (Pam), Virgil Blasingame (Virginia), Benjamin Housel; granddaughters, Kathy Ruhl (Mark), Melissa Volguardson (Jerry), Debbie Saggard (John), Cindy Hebert (Larry), Janelle Evans, Tammy Page (Russell), Ronna Coleman (Jay), Angela Updike (Ricky), Ivaloo Blasingame, and Amy Housel; 25 great grandchildren; and 13 great, great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Don; daughter & son-in-law Ivaloo & Virgil Blasingame; son-in-law Gary Emert; granddaughter, GayLynn Brummett; grandsons, Johnnie Blasingame, Thomas Boyles; great grandson, Jon Paul Coleman; parents Charles & Sarah Dennis; brothers, Hartson, Marvin, Clifford, Bill, and Edward; sisters, Etta Mae Dennis, Marie Truksa, and Betty Jean Dennis
