Martine E. Addlesperger, age 101, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.

She was born on January 21, 1914 in Mount Vernon to the late James and Jennie (Myers) Bort. Martine was a governess for Phillip and Penelope Sheridan in Bethesda, MD. She was a cook at the Alcove and Mount Vernon High School and worked at Woolworth’s as a clerk. Martine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, was a charter member of the First Baptist Church Bethesda, MD, and served as the chaplain of the Women’s Relief Corps of Mount Vernon and Knox County. She was also a member of the Campers Of Mount Vernon Ohio (COMVO). Martine was an avid reader and loved to golf and fish.

She is survived by her daughter Juanita Addlesperger of Mount Vernon; her son James Addlesperger of Oak Grove, CA; four step-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Addlesperger, Evelyn Peiffer, Esther Baldock; relatives Elizabeth (Rick) Morrison, Carrie Morrison, Jaylen Morrison, Daniel Morrison, and Donald Morrison and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Martine was preceded in death by her husband Arvene Addlesperger; two sisters, Vera Heighton, Thelma Metzger; and her daughter-in-law Linda Addlesperger.

There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
