In the early years, Jerry worked for the Auto Industry in Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL. His weekends were spent with his family and racing cars.
When he and his family came back to the Menominee, MI area, he started a landscaping business and the first rural trash collection business.
After a few years he was bought out and went to work for the City of Menominee. While working at the city he pursued his passion of working on cars, restoring and customizing.
He left the city and opened his own shop. No one could paint, airbrush or hand paint murals on cars better than this man.
In 1983, he moved to California for ten years and then came back to Menominee to retire. He never had a problem helping or offering his expertise to anyone.
Jerry is survived by two daughters: Linda (Mike) Reiswitz-Crampton and Kathy Schuette;
three sons: Jeff (Tammy) Reiswitz, Bruce (Jessica) Reiswitz and Scott (Cecelia) Reiswitz;
his grandchildren including: Jeremy, Nikolus, Robbin, Beth, Michelle, Michael, Nathan, Kortny, Marri, Jeffrey Jr., Brandon, Colton, Travis and Nicholas; 23 great-grandchildren;
one brother, Roger Reiswitz;
his dear friend, Jim Rick; and many other family members and friends. “His family was his reason to smile”.
Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Wayne Reiswitz, Jr; eight sisters; four brothers; and his son-in-law, Jeff Schutte.
Funeral services for Gerald will be held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at 6 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Rev. Scott Ehle will officiate.
