Helena "Lena" Beatrice Martin, older sister to Robert Emmett Martin, Lena was born in Stafford County, Virginia to "Kate" Catherine Theresa Bloxton Martin (1859-1950) and Lawrence A. Martin. Her parents were married on November 29, 1888.

MARRIED - At the Shrine of the Sacred Heart, Miss Helena Beatrice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Martin of Washington, D.C., to Signor Feranecsco "Frank" Bernardi (an Italian musician who had changed his name to BERNARD by 1920), on Monday evening, December 28, 1908.

Helena and the Signor had a daughter: Madeline (Bernardi) Cecil, who married William J. Cecil, a Salesman in 1949. Madeline was born on Monday, September 6, 1909 and died on Saturday, May 12, 2001, in Fullerton, Orange County, California, at the age of 91.

The California Death Index has Helena's married name listed as "Bernard", not the correct Bernardi.
