She was born September 22, 1933, to Artie and Jessie Forehand, in Levelland, TX. She graduated from Levelland High School in 1951. On July 3, 1951, she married the love of her life, Dale Cox in Levelland. They made their first home in Colorado Springs, CO, where Dale was stationed in the Army. They were eventually blessed with three children. Dale and Joyce made several moves over the years, to Levelland, Bovina, Coyanosa, Sterling City, Kingsland and finally back to Leveland. Joyce loved her Church famlies in all the towns where they lived, and always said that she was blessed to have had so many loving Christian friends in so many interesting places. She made it her business to become a vital part of each congregation. The root of her Christian faith was always with the Austin Street Church of Christ in Levelland. In 1965, Joyce became an LVN after training at South Plains College. She worked at the Levelland Hospital as well as various nursing homes until she retired in 1999. Anyone who knew her knew that she was a wonderful caregiver.
