He was born February 25, 1929. He is the son of the late Galen Franklin Wakeman and Maude Elizabeth Clem Wakeman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Ryman Wakeman; a brother, Stanley Wakeman; and sisters, Carolyn Wakeman and Faye Wilson.
Mr. Wakeman is survived by a son, Michael Wakeman and wife, Loretta, of Edinburg; and a step son, Harold W. Wetzel of New Market. Also surviving are brothers, Ray Wakeman, Paul Wakeman, and Nelson Wakeman, of Edinburg, Robert Bobby Wakeman of Maurertown, and Wayne Wakeman of Fishers Hill; two granddaughters, Kelsey Wakeman and Kaitlyn Wakeman of Edinburg; and three step-grandchildren, Chris Wetzel of Tennessee, Andrew Wetzel of New Market and Heather Sherman of Edinburg.
Mr. Wakeman was a self employed poultry farmer. He was a member of Wakeman's Grove Church of the Brethren.
He was a Veteran of The U.S. Army and a member of The American Legion Post 199 Woodstock VA.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Wakeman's Grove Church Cemetery conducted by Pastor Mark Bowyer.
The family would like memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
Arrangements are in the care of Valley Funeral Service, Bowman's Crossing.
