Cpl. Forest J. Jostes, 22, of Albion, Ill.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed April 4 when his unit was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Baghdad.

Cpl. Forest Joseph Jostes, 21, of the U.S. Army, gave his life in Baghdad, Iraq on Sunday, April 4, 2004.

Visitation will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist
Church in Albion. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albion.

Cpl. Jostes was born on April 30, 1982, in Warrensburg, Mo.

He volunteered on April 4 for the duty that would claim his life the same day. He was a fine Christian man and was a member of Albion First Baptist Church. He carried the 91st Psalm with him wherever he
went. He joined the National Guard at the age of 17 and became a member of the 25th Army Combat Engineers out of Lawrenceville. He later entered active duty with the 1st 82nd Field Artillery as part of the 1st Calvary out of Fort Hood, Texas. He had been in Iraq for about three weeks.

Cpl. Jostes is survived by his parents, Von and Diane Ibbotson, of Albion; a sister, Michelle Lee Teeter and her husband, Brian, of St. Augustine, Fla.; two brothers, Benjamin L. Jostes and Evan R. Ibbotson, both at home; his grandparents, John and Laura Ibbotson, of Albion, Glen and Darlene Kellison, of Titusville, Fla., and Norman and Shirley Costley, of Staunton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts,
uncles and cousins.

A memorial scholarship fund has been set up at Citizens National Bank in Albion. The family is also asking anyone who wishes to
purchase international phone cards to send to the troops in memory of Cpl. Forest Joseph Jostes.
