Absalom was the son of Absalom, Sr. and Nancy Polston of Dade County, Missouri, previously of Roane County, Tennessee (Roane Census 1830). Absalom, Jr. and his brother Benjamin Polston both enlisted on 25 July 1862 at Melville, Missouri, and were both mustered in 30 September 1862 at Springfield, Missouri, served in Co. L, 6 Reg., Mo. Cav. Vols.; Absalom, Jr. died in the General Hospital at Ironton, Iron County, Missouri. Absalom, Jr. had a nephew named Absalom Polston s/o his brother Benjamin Polston. Absalom's nephew by the same name married Amanda Mahala (White) Ayers 12 October 1897 at Dade County, Missouri.
