Jean was born Emogene Myrick in Brownwood, Texas April 30, 1931 to Ernest and Della Myrick.
After graduating from Early High School she met and married Ralph Nichols May 13, 1950 in Brownwood, Texas and shared a lifetime with him in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado until his death November 11, 1992. She worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1992. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crafts, cooking, baking, singing country western and gospel songs, crocheting and was an avid seamstress. Jean and Ralph loved to load the trailer and go camping with the grandkids in the mountains.
Jean was a very active member of Front Range Baptist Church in Fort Collins. She enjoyed her church, spending time with family and friends. Known for her friendly nature and thoughtfulness she won the trust and hearts of many, she was a woman of love and faith and will never be forgotten.
Jean is survived by her daughter Sheri (Ken) Barker; son, Rick Nichols. Three grand children Kayla (Michael) Ashcraft, David (Flip) Barker and Stephen Nichols and five great grand children, Kaylana, Colten, Ryeanne, Brayden and Trinton all of Fort Collins, Colorado. Her beloved Maltese Mandy. They put a sparkle in Mama's eyes. Many nieces and nephews and their families, two sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law all of whom she treasured dearly.
Preceding Jean in death was husband Ralph, her parents, brother Horace, sisters Vada, Glenda, Ida, brother-in-laws Ray, Jess, and John.
A memorial celebrating her life will be conducted on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Front Range Baptist Church, 625 E Harmony Road, Fort Collins, Colorado with a reception to follow. A graveside service will be at Windom Cemetery in Windom, Texas at a later date.
