Carrie E. James, 87, Carthage, died at 11:32 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the St. Luke's Nursing Center, Carthage. Mrs. James was born Oct. 28, 1918 in Jasper County, Mo., the daughter of the late Lewis Henry and Lelia Mae (Renner) Green. She was a homemaker. She was faithful Christian and a member of Bible Baptist Church of Carthage for 50 years plus. Oct. 23, 1936 she married Justin Carl James in Carthage. He preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1967. Survivors include two sons, David James and wife Juanita, Carthage and Jake James, Carthage; three daughters, Gloria Thomas and husband Ernie, Jan Bastings and husband Danny, Carthage and Ruth Ann Carterman and husband Richard, Diamond; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy James; one brother, Charlie Green; one sister, Betty Marn and one great-grandchild. Services will be held graveside at Oak Hill Cemetery, 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Trinity Hospice or Alzheimer's Association in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
