Richard Ludd Watne, of Sandwich, IL, formerly of Hinckley, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion. Richard was born on April 6, 1936 in Waterman, IL the son of Lud and Wilma (Freundt) Watne. Richard was a lifelong member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Hinckley, IL. He attended Hinckley schools. Richard was employed by the Opportunity House in Sycamore, IL, for many years, and by the Open Door in Sandwich, IL, for a short time. He had resided at Willow Crest in Sandwich for the past 20 years, where he had a special spot by the nurse's desk. Richard enjoyed many hobbies, including playing bingo and dominoes, and in the past, going bowling. Throughout the years, he had made many potholders that he gave to his many friends and family. As a child on the farm, he loved riding his Cushman scooter. Richard is survived by his brother, Edward "Toby" (Barb) Watne of Hinckley, IL; his sister, Susan (Denny) Long of Kaneville, IL; his nieces, nephews, and their families; Jennifer (Karl) Klambauer, Alexandra, Melissa, and Andrew of Hinckley, IL; Sarah Dunlop, Allison and Alyssa of Kaneville, IL; Stephanie (Brent) Shrader, Brandon, Jacob, Monica, and Josie of Sandwich, IL; Steve (Paulette) Watne of Hinckley, IL; Brittany Watne of Waterman, IL, Candice and Mark Vizza of Hinckley, IL; Laura Rudow of Kaneville, IL; and Debby Long of Kaneville, IL; and his cousins, Dr. Alvin (Diana) Watne of Waterman, IL, and Atlanta, GA; Chris (Tom) Lind of Hinckley, IL, and Mary Jo (John) Bross of DeKalb, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his great-nephew, Matthew Ludwig Klam-bauer. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, July 10, 2006 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St., Hinckley, IL, with Pastor Kate Feeney-Bastian officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Grove Cemetery, Waterman, IL.
