Lois Martilla (Allen) Davis, age 86 of rural Lawrenceville, passed away at her home with loved ones by her side on Friday, August 14, 2015. She was born June 26, 1929 in Stoddard County, Missouri to James Leonard Allen and his wife Alfreda (Mayberry) Allen.
She married Robert L. Davis on June 10, 1947 in Billett, and he preceded her in death in October of 2009.
Lois was a homemaker to her family, a long-time member of the Billett United Methodist Church, and a member of the Billett United Methodist Women. Lois and her husband, Bob, had very open and caring hearts. That could be seen through the fostering of 26 children from 1968-1978.
Surviving family includes: one daughter- Peggy Brookheart of rural Lawrenceville: five sons- Alan Davis of Greenfield, IN; Joe Davis and his wife Sandi of Castillian Springs, TN; Tom Davis and his wife Beth of Hutsonville: Mike Davis and his wife Sara of Lawrenceville; and Brian Davis of Flora: four sisters- Anna Polk and husband Jack of Bridgeport; Sue Roe and husband Bob of Plainfield, IN; Virginia Cotterell and husband Bob of Discovery Bay, CA; and Jane Waggoner of Indianapolis, IN: three sisters-in-law- Betty Allen of Bridgeport; Ruth Allen of Bonita, CA; and Jeri Schrader of Robinson: sixteen grandchildren: and seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- James Leonard Allen and Alfreda Mayberry Allen: her husband- Robert L. Davis: three brothers- Chester, Ivan, and Leonard Allen: and one daughter- Mary Jane Davis.
A funeral service held in Bridgeport at the Cunningham Funeral Home. Burial in Billett Cemetery.
