Mr. Fred J. Broeder Sr, 90, died Thursday evening at Kalispell Regional Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1893 in Bremen, North Dakota, the son of Conrad and Marie Broeder. He received his education in North Dakota and attended the Minneapolis Business College in Minnesota.

On November8 ,1915, he married Alma Carlson in Fesenden, North Dakota. They homesteaded in eastern Montana until 1935,w hen they moved to the Flathead Valley, living in the Helena Flats area. They continued to farm until their retirement. He was a member of the Farmers Union.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma on March 24, 1978 and a daughter, Arlene Wellman on December 28, 1979.

He is survived by two sons, Fred Broeder, Jr, and Gordon Broeder, both of Kalispell; a daughter, Fern Metcalf, Kalispell; a brother, the Rev. John Broeder, Ogden Utah; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
