Jeanette Marie (Jane) Bieser Scheerhoorn, the twin daughter of Jacob and Clara (Flebig) Bieser, was born on a farm northwest of Sanborn on November 4, 1910. She attended rural school and graduated from Sanborn High School.
Jane was married to Gradus Scheerhoorn and they lived In the local area their entire married lifetime. They had two children: Jerry Paul Scheerhoorn and Jean Lee Peterson. Gradus died on June 17, 1971. Jane entered Prairie View Nursing Home at Sanborn on April 18, 1997 and she died there on December 1, 2001 at the age of 91 years, 27 days.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law. Jerry and Nedra Scheerhoorn of Sanborn, her daughter, Jean Lee Peterson of Upland, Calif.: six grandchildren: Lori Bootsma and family, Darcy Scheerhoorn, Scott Scheerhoorn and family, Mark Scheerhoorn, Jill Brown, Dwight Brandt and family, Bruce Brown and family; 10 great-grandchildren, and her sister and brother-in-law, Verda and Jack Schlarbaum of Hartley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her twin sister, Geneva Ethel (Jean) Bieser, and three brothers: Oscar, Victor, and Paul Bieser. Jane enjoyed cooking, sewing, and maintaining her lawn and garden. The aroma of freshly baked bread filled her kitchen along with delicious cookies and pies. The dandelions and crab grass didn't stand a chance of survival in her lawn.
Funeral services were held December 5 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sanborn with Rev. Dale Fransson officiating. Casket bearers were Dwight Brandt, Scott Scheerhoorn, Terry Bootsma and Kyle Bootsma. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home In charge of arrangements.
