Anne Runyon was the daughter of Peter Runyon & Providence Blackford. According to Stillwell's book on Genealogical Miscellany, Anne was born in April 1717 in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey.

She married John Layton about 1732 and they were the parents of at least five children:

1. Peter Layton (Unmarried)
2. Providence Layton (Justice John Carle)
3. Violet Layton (John Runyon)
4. Sarah Layton (Bedient Baird)
5. Anne Layton (Jonathan Caterline)

There was a Daniel Layton also in Morristown, Morris, New Jersey at the same time as these Laytons. I've found nothing to say he is another son, but I think the likehood is high. He shows up in census substitute records for 1771 & 1776.

After her husband's death in 1750, Anne married John Bedell between 1755-1758. In her father's Will she is shown still to be Anne Layton, by the time her mother died in 1759 she was Anne Bedell. However, her new husband John Bedell's Will was made 19 Aug 1858 and proved 31 May 1759.

Ancestry trees show her to have died also in 1759 but I have not seen anything to confirm that date. She would have been just 41 years old, so she may have remarried. I am also uncertain if she is buried where her son and other family members are buried. But I suspect she is in the family burial ground of her brother-in-law Daniel Cooper with other family members.
