LESTER M CAMPBELL, 88 of Garrett died on Tuesday December 13, 2011 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Garrett.

He was born January 4, 1923 in DeKalb County to the late George A and Hazel F (Peters) Campbell.

He served in the US Army during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge with the 14th Armor Division.

He worked for the US Postal Service as a clerk for 25 years before retiring in 1983.

He married Iris J Bryan on August 2, 1947 in Garrett IN, and she survives in Garrett.

He was a member of the Garrett American Legion, where he was a Past Post Commander and a member of the VFW.

Also surviving is a son of Auburn; daughter of Orland; brother of LaOtto; sister of Fort Wayne; 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Maynard "Joe" Campbell.

The funeral will be held on Saturday December 17, 2011 at 10 am at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev Richard Pickard officiating. A military graveside burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday December 16, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
