She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a homemaker. On any given day she loved spending time with her husband at their monument business of 40 years. She loved yard work, picking pecans, burning trash piles and admiring her rose bushes. She loved reading her collection of recipe books and faithfully read the newspaper every day. Even though her family outgrew her house, she loved big family gatherings with lots of food and on occasion the party had to be spread next door to her daughter’s house. She loved entertaining her family by playing the piano. Her two favorite times in her life was when her family came to visit and left.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Juanice Wallace; one brother, Warner Harris; one daughter, LaVonda Turner; and one infant granddaughter, Bobbie June Turner.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Vernon Barnes of Crossett; two daughters, Rhonda Bowers and husband John of Florence, AL and Sondra Flanery of Henderson, TX; one son, Vaughn Barnes and wife Jeannie of Crossett; one adopted daughter, Lynne Mills and husband Terry of Crossett; and one brother, George Harris of Monticello. She was also affectionately called Memaw by 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Russell Moore officiating with soloists Charles Flanery and Britt Boren, followed by an interment at Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chris Gill, Jason Gill, Andy Flanery, Greg Barnes, Tyler Barnes and Chad Turner. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Crossett, 500 Main St, Crossett, Arkansas 71635.
