Railroad Man Killed.
Norman Hartwell, employed in the bridge department of the B. & M. was killed
on the track just north of the freight station last week Wednesday night. The first
intimation of his injury was the discovery of part of his body by some one coming
to work early on Thursday morning. He had come down from Sherbrooke that night,
and evidently had started to walk down the track to his home, which is in Hadleyville.
How, when or why the accident occurred no one knows, but it is probable that
several trains had passed over him, as his body was frightfully mangled. He was a man
of about 45, of good character, and came here a few years ago from East Haven.
He leaves a widow.
Funeral services were held at his late home Saturday afternoon, conducted by
the Rev. Mr. Shaw, with singing by the Methodist choir.
