Marshall Bellamy Martin Norfolk - Marshall Bellamy Martin, 59, died February 20, 2015. Born in Norfolk, Virginia on September 24, 1955, Marshall was the youngest of three children of Lois Martin Strode and the late Honorable Frederick E. Martin, Jr. Marshall grew up in Norfolk and graduated from Norfolk Academy. He earned a bachelor's degree from Haverford College and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He practiced business, banking, healthcare and intellectual property law in Norfolk for over 30 years. Marshall was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Tidewater Chapter of the American Red Cross and a former President of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Zoo. A lifelong Episcopalian, he was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Norfolk where he served on the Vestry and in many other leadership positions. Marshall embraced fatherhood and was devoted to his family beyond measure. He held a special place in his heart for the family cottage at Sandbridge Beach. Over his life, he excelled at many sports including surfing, basketball, lacrosse, tennis, sailing, and cycling. He was an avid and talented photographer, capturing special moments in the lives of his family and friends. He left a legacy of memories in his photographs. He was also devoted to his parents, siblings, and an extended family of friends, often providing companionship, insight, or any support appropriate to the moment, always without hesitation. His easy presence and expansive nature reflected his delight in other people, appreciation of life's gifts and mysteries, and belief in a profound grace. Marshall's life will be celebrated at a private memorial service at a later date. Contributions may be made in his memory to WHRO, Good Shepherd Church, Norfolk Academy, Norfolk Public Library, or any fine arts initiative. Marshall is survived by his wife, Cece, and daughters Hannah and Emily; his mother, Lois, and stepfather, Hildreth Strode; his brother, Dr. Frederick E. Martin, III (Kathy Nolen-Martin); his sister, Dorry McCorkle (Dr. M. R. McCorkle, Jr.); cousins Douglas and John Deal; nieces Sarah and Frances McCorkle, and Molly Martin; and nephews Eric and Taylor Martin, and Chris McCorkle.
