Orville M. Olson, 87, a longtime resident of Milton, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Skaalen Home in Stoughton, WI. He was born on July 5, 1923, near Viroqua in Vernon County, WI, the son of Thomas G. and Christina (Hoverson) Olson. He attended school in Janesville, graduating in the class of 1941. Orville served in the United States Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater during World War II from 1943 to 1946, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Janesville. On June 22, 1947, he married Margaret M. (Peggy) Olson in Milton, WI. A longtime member of the Milton Junction Seventh-Day Adventist Church, in later years he joined the Milton Seventh-Day Baptist Church. Orville worked closely with his wife to establish and lead the Pathfinders for the Milton Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He was a member of the Janesville Barber Shop Quartet, and throughout his life graced us with his beautiful singing voice.
He is survived by his son, Tom (Janet) of Marietta, GA; two grandchildren, Erika (Joel) Knox of Chattanooga, TN, and A1C Jon Olson of Patrick Air Force Base, Cocoa Beach, FL; one great-granddaughter, Roxylin Knox; and many loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his 11 brothers and sisters.
