"The Putman House is the best hotel in the county or in any town in the State of this size, it is an exceptionally fine Hostelry, it long felt want has now been supplied. The elegant new Hotel erected and furnished by our citizens, Mrs. Jane Putman and her son Oliver Putman, was opened to the public last week, though there will be several finishing touches put on both inside and outside."
