Bruce L. Burnett, 77, of Grand Island died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Mr. Burnett was born April 23, 1929, at Grand Island to Lee E. and Fern (Huegel) Burnett.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Jackie Burnett of Grand Island; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Jerry Wurtele of Nebraska City and Nancy L. Temple of Lincoln; and a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice M. and Richard Bailey of Omaha.

Additional survivors include five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1947. He attended Kearney State College for two years.
He entered the United States Army in 1951, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953, having attained the rank of corporal. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Bravery and Service to his country.
He lived in O'Neill following his service and worked for the Conoco Oil Company. Upon the death of his first wife, he returned to Grand Island, where he worked as a safety Manager at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant.
He was united in marriage to Jackie Menck-Urwiller on May 6, 1966, at Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island. He was employed by the Omaha Hardwood Company for 14 years as a sales representative, retiring in 1987 due to health problems.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the American Legion of Grand Island. Prior to his disability, he was an avid sportsman, carved gun stocks and did carpentry finish work. He enjoyed playing cards and dominos and was very active with the Senior Citizens Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
