Ruby O. Daniels, 85, formerly of US 31, South Bend passed away at 10:13 AM Thursday, August 13 at Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa after an extended illness.

Mrs. Daniels was born May 24, 1930 in South Bend to the late William A. and Harryetta L. Smith. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings; Peggy Springer, Della Davis, Helen Strong, and Arthur Smith.

On January 6, 1948, Ruby was united in marriage to Clifford E. Daniels, Sr. who passed away on December 11, 2011.

Ruby is survived by a daughter; Linda S. (Tom) Sheffy of Fitchburg, WI and three sons; Clifford E. Daniels, Jr. of La Habra, CA, James Byron (Sandi) Daniels, of Mishawaka, IN and David L. (Heidi) Daniels of Crown Point, IN. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was a granddaughter Olivia Daniels.

Mrs. Daniels retired from Howell Construction in North Liberty as an office clerk. She worked for many years in the Accounts Payable Dept. of Robertson’s Dept. Store.

Ruby loved bowling, gardening, flowers, her cats and being with family and friends.

The family expresses sincere thanks to the nursing staff of Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa for the loving care of their mother.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 16th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Hanley and Sons “Southwest Chapel” Funeral Home, West Ireland Road/ State Road 23, South Bend.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17th at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Vito Rulli officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Millers Merry Manor, Activity Department, 300 N. Washington Street, Wakarusa, IN 46573
