Ben Crall 1947-2015; of Carrollton
68, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer. He was welcomed into his heavenly home by his daughter, Melody. A son of the late Frank and Sylvia Smith Crall, he was born May 21, 1947 in Scio, Ohio. Ben married his high school sweetheart, Michelle McKinney, on April 9, 1966. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, Ben and Michelle settled at Petersburg, where they lived and raised their children. A retired carpenter with Canton Local #285 and Carpenter #69, Ben enjoyed farming. A popular local handyman, he could fix anything to make it last forever. Ben was a member of the Perrysville United Methodist Church and Carroll County Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Shannon Benjamin of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; son-in-law, Travis Alazaus and his wife, Mary; a sister, Janet Hall of Clarksville, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews; and he was an honorary grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. Along with his parents and daughter he was preceded in death by seven brothers: Henry, Elmer, George, Albert, Lester, Carl, and Gary; and four sisters: Audrey Wallace, Donna Custer, Mildred Weaver, and Connie Godman.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Perrysville United Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Hale and Rev. Andy Angel officiating. Burial will follow in the Perrysville Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. in Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton. The family asks that donations be made in Ben's name to St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
