He went to USC for four years in the Fine Arts Theater School where he became a member of Chi Phi. He worked as a production assistant for Ray Stark on his film Steel Magnolias and then spent years in Telemarketing in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania before returning to California and Tehachapi.
