Rose M. Gardner, age 94, of Lopez, PA passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital, Towanda, after a brief illness.
Rose was born in Bernice on December 22, 1917 a daughter of the late Eugene & Suzie Mattioli Serafini. She graduated from the Dushore High School and married William A. Gardner of Lopez, PA on April 7, 1945. He predeceased her on October 22, 1989.
Rose began working at the Weldon Mfg. Co. of Lopez, and after it closed she was employed at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co. of Mildred from which she retired. Rose led a simple life and enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and playing the PA Lottery. She also had a strict daily regimen of keeping in touch with her family and her friends.
Surviving: two step-daughters; Lillian Verlardi of Riverdale, NJ and Ruth (Wm "Vince") Yudzeky of Lopez; a brother: Arno (Diane) Serafini of Mildred, PA; two sisters: Anne Decker of Mildred and Anita Sysock of Dushore, PA; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
