Oliver Roscoe Thomas, 56, of Princewick, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Rella Thomas-Tingler and Robert Tingler, Jr. following a long illness. Oliver was a heavy equipment operator and logger. He was a former resident of King, North Carolina, having spent the last eight years with his sister and brother-in-law in Princewick.
Born February 2, 1959 at Mullens, he was the son of the late, Leonard Howard Thomas (1926-1969) and Mary "Beatrice" Lusk-Thomas-Burnecke (1932-1998). In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Christina Thomas (1960-2007); one brother, Leonard S. Thomas (1956-1997); and four sisters, Christine R. Thomas-Faulkner (1950-1990), Catherine "Kathy" Leona Thomas-Meador (1952-2008), Thelma "Marie" Thomas (1953-2014), and Edna Thomas (Deceased).
Those left to cherish his memory include one stepdaughter, Andrea Thomas of NC; one stepson, Jamie Thomas of NC; two sisters, Rella Thomas-Tingler and her husband, Robert Tingler, Jr. of Princewick and Geneva V. Thomas of Princewick; one brother, Bernard Thomas of Bud Mountain; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens. In keeping with Oliver's wishes cremation will follow the visitation and his cremains will be buried at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, Bud Mountain at a later date.
