Ellen “Suzie” Farmer, age 70 of South Bend, passed away on August 8th at home surrounded by her daughter and granddaughters. Suzie was born on August 1, 1945 to Luther J. and Bertha E. Farmer. She was one of four children in a family who were always on the move. Suzie’s Father was in the United States Air Force. He was transferred from Missouri to California, and most of the states in between. Growing up Suzie made 42 moves between 1st grade and her high school graduation. After high school she joined the United States Army. Suzie was blessed with four children Anthony Farmer, Mandie (Warren) O’Neal, Steven (Arien) Farmer, and Andrew Farmer. Also Valerie LaCluyse who held a special place in Suzie’s heart. Suzie was most proud of her grandchildren; Tony, Sara-Ellen, Warren III, Alyssa-Ellen, Mackenzie, Ambir ,Madison-Ellen , Lyndsay, Haley, Landon, and great granddaughter Reagan. Suzie’s life was filled with the joy she received from her grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by their love. Suzie will be best remembered for her generosity and was looked to as “the calm in the storm”. She was seen as “a rock” by her daughter and shared a lifetimes worth of wisdom with her. Suzie will be greatly missed, a sacrifice given so she may rest in peace. The family will be having a private celebration of her life at a later date.
