The diphtheria plague started some months ago in Baker township and around Granville does not seem to have yielded to the quarantine rules as administered there, and Death has taken away on of the family of Ed Ker, in Baker [Township].

The death is a sad one on account of the circumstances. Mr.and Mrs. Ker were at Sioux City attending the fair last week, never realizing that their aughter Edna was seriously ill. They returned just in time to say Farewell.

Several of the neighbors had been there during the week to assist in the threshing and some were there at the time of death. Among them was Mrs. W.H. Elder who was quarantined as soon as the nature of the disease was known.

Edna Cordelia, the deceased, was about ten years of age. Her death occurred on Saturday morning, and the body was laid to rest on Sunday morning at an early hour.
