Death Takes City Pioneer
Mrs.C. B. Shufflebarger To Be Buried Here
Mrs. C. B. Shufflebarger of 414 North Second Street, died around 6 o'clock this morning at a local hospital where she was taken for treatment five weeks ago. A resident of McAlester for some 50 years, Mrs. Shufflebarger was one of the true pioneers of the city. She was born in Marysville, Tenn., on January 6, 1877. Mrs. Shufflebarger was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church and was prominent in the circles of that denomination here. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 149. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the First Christian Church, with Rev. J. B. France officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery under the direction of the Chaney funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joe Andrews, Fred Clement, Howard Richardson, Stanley Neiswander, C. H. Crites, and G. F. Cathey. Survivors include one son, Charles Holly Shufflebarger, Chief Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy, now on an undisclosed mission at sea; two sisters, Mrs. Smith Crowl and Mrs. Dave Dodd, both of McAlester; three brothers, Larry Rasar and Tom M. Rasar, both of McAlester, and J. G. Rasar of Arizona; three nieces, Mrs. W. C. Neal of Santa Fe; Mrs. T. M. Campbell and Ms. S. C. Hoshour, both of Oklahoma City, J. G. Rasar will be unable to attend the funeral because of illness, Mrs. Neal, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Hoshour are in the city.
