Mr. Ben. R. Taylor, 73, died Wednesday afternoon (August 12, 2015) at his residence after a short illness.

He resided most of his life in Waycross and was better known for the 57 years he was employed at Eldridge Hardware. He served on the Ware County Planning Commission and was former member of the Waycross Lions Club. He was also the chairman of Satilla Regional Water & Sewer Authority for 12 years. In his spare time he was an avid fisherman and airplane pilot.

He is the son of the late Claude Dale Taylor and Melba Chairs Taylor. He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Taylor.

Survivors include his significant other, Winifred Godbolt of Waycross; five step-children, Elaine Bailey (Johnny), Paula Mixon (Yancy), Bill Godbolt, Jimmy Godbolt, and Mike Godbolt (April) all of Waycross; special grandson, Todd Godbolt of Waycross; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Sonya Dale Harrison of Gulf Shores, AL; special brother-in-law, Johnny Taylor of Blackshear; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday (August 14, 2015) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Clinch County. The family will receive friends 2 until 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Co-workers at Eldridge Hardware, Fellow Contractors, Members of the Satilla Regional Water and Sewer Authority, Ware County Class of 1960, and his Breakfast Table Friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:40 p.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31503. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
