After receiving an edit from Jenny on January 21, 2021, to change the date to 1938, I double-checked their obituaries and verified that they did say 1937. After viewing their marriage certificate, I accepted her edit to change the date to 1938.

Carl C. “Ted” Gerth, 65, of 902 South Hancock street, died Wednesday at his home at 10:30 p.m.
The son of Henry C. and Christina Gerth, he was born July 9, 1883, in Muscatine. His marriage to Goldie Gee took place in 1937 [sic]. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past seven years.
Mr. Gerth is survived by his wife; one son, George Gerth of Muscatine; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Rhodes, Mrs. Lola Sheein, and Mrs. Adetta Honts, all of Muscatine and Mrs. Verna Morris of Tulsa, Okla.; one stepson, James Roach of Oskaloosa; and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Pauline Meeker and Mrs. Louise Meeker, both of Ottumwa. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren.
His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
