James was baptized on 11 Mar. 1752 at Abernathy, west of Grantown-on-Spey, now in the Highland council area of Scotland. He was the son of John More (Sr.) and Isobel Duncan. He died aged 23 years, presumably in Rothiemurchus where he was buried, which was then in co. Inverness.
