Kathleen Ballard Benson, 81, died Dec. 1, 2004 with her family by her side in Snowflake. She was born in Snowflake where she grew up. She graduated from the old brick high school in Snowflake. She continued her education by graduating from Lamsom's Business College in Phoenix, Arizona. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Northwestern States Mission. She married John Scott Benson July 31, 1953 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and settled in Holbrook where they raised five children and lived there for 51 years. She was a long time employee for Whiting Brothers Oil Company as an office manager and bookkeeper for 38 years. She served the community as city councilwoman and mayor from April 20, 1981 to April 29, 1985. She served in all the auxiliary organizations of the LDS church. She was a kind, loving mother and wife.
Kathleen is survived by her spouse, John Scott Benson, five children, a son, Charles Grant Benson (Sharon), and four daughters, Ivean Kinzy (Jim), Susan King (Darcy), Linda Hinegardner (Bob), and Debbie Benson. She has 14 grand children and seven great grand children. She's also survived by one brother and three sisters.
Memorial services will be Monday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. with a viewing at 9 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Holbrook. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to RTA Hospice in Lakeside.
