ELLENTON — Larry Wayne Burgess, 58, of Ellenton, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Cross View Baptist Church with burial at China Grove Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Stanley Norman, the Rev. Ken Baker, the Rev. Chris McPherson and the Rev. John O’Neal.
Mr. Burgess was born Nov. 13, 1956, in Adel, Ga., to the late Vassar Leslie ”Buddy” Burgess and Betty Mae Miller Burgess. He was a Hyster lift operator with Nashville Mills. He served five terms on the Ellenton City Council and was a member of the Ellenton Volunteer Fire Department. He was an ASA umpire for 20 years and his family said he was a faithful Atlanta Braves fan and loved the Lord.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at the home of Gail and Larry Baker, 207 Livingston Bridge Road.
