Nelson Ray Moore, age 78, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. Celebration of life: 3 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Nelson graduated from Artesia High School in Artesia, N.M. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. His 52-year commitment to education started in 1962 at Euless Junior High School. Later, he taught and coached at Bell High School and taught at Trinity High School. In 1997 Nelson was inducted into the HEB Sports Hall of Fame. Nelson opened Pennington Field as the stadium director. He loved his job and continued to work until the day of his passing. Nelson's greatest love in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ara Moore; and his siblings, Kenneth, Marie and Vernese. Survivors: "Duke" is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Janette; daughters, Robin and Janell; son-in-law, Curtis; grandchildren, Joshua, Jarad, Amanda, Riley and Drew; siblings, Wayne, Bobby, Burdeen and Nelda; and many other family friends, students, players and co-workers.
