Obituary, Florida Times-Union, August 12, 2015
Suzanne Sue Roach, 80, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2015 at Community Hospice. She was born on May 7, 1935 in Jacksonville, FL.

Suzanne, as she was known in her younger years, was in the 1st graduating class of Bishop Kenny High School. After graduating she went to FSU, where her dear childhood friend took good care of her. She went to work for Prudential life insurance where she was in charge of the typing pool.

She met her loving husband of 57 years while on a business trip to the Bahamas, they were both working for Prudential. Once she started a family they were the most important part of her life. She didn't want to see her children traveling 25 miles one way to school, so she and her friends went through the woods of St. Johns Co. to get a census of how many children there were in the area. Julington Creek Elementary started because of their efforts. After a few years, Sue, as she was known then, became the secretary and honorary second mother to all the students at Julington Creek which she loved both students and faculty.

After retirement in 1994, she loved to spend time with her family and friends including her bingo buddies.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Susie and Haynes Andrews; mother-in-law and father-in-law Elizabeth Beebe Roach and Frank Buddy Roach. Suzanne is survived by her husband, Peter O. Roach Sr.; children, Mary K. Steele (Ed), Peter Roach Jr., Patricia Dendor (Ed), and Steve Roach; sister, Frances Greelish; sister-in-law, Francie Roach; grandchildren, Brian Steele, Jessica Steele (Adam), Chris Dendor, and Nick Dendor; and multiple nieces and nephews.

During her lengthy illness, she was lucky to have extended family step up to relieve the family during the times when they couldn't be with her.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00am Saturday, August 15 at San Juan del Rio Catholic Church, 1718 SR 13, St. Johns, FL, with the funeral service following at 11:00am at the church. Interment will be at 2:00pm at Mandarin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL.
