He was the son of Dale M. and Edna (Rhodes) Bowers. On Sep 12, 1970, he married Judith "Judy" Black, who survives in Lima.
Also surviving are a son, Brian M., Lima; a daughter, Shelley R. Bowers, Portland, OR; a brother, Ray (Pam), Arlington; and two sisters: Roberta A. Smith, Elida, and Joyce M. (Ronald) Roeder, Lima.
Deceased are a brother-in-law, Raymond Smith; and nephew, Shane Bowers.
A member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church, Lima, he was a trustee and a former member of the Administrative Council. He was a 1960 graduate of Bath High School. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. While in the Navy he earned his degree as an electrician. After returning home, he worked for Clark Equipment, Excello, Airfoil/Textron and Sinter Metals as a maintenance electrician. He was also a member of the Allen County Sheriff's Office Mounted Posse, the Buckeye Rider's and Driver's Saddle Club and a life-long member of the NRA. He loved gardening, fishing, mowing his lawn and rooting for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
Funeral services will be at Family of Faith United Methodist Church, Lima, with Pastor Jim Loescher and Rev. Mark Burden officiating. Interment will be in Bluelick Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
