ALVEY - Mary, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009, after a short illness. The funeral for Mary took place in Gadsden, AL. She was formerly married to John H. Alvey, Louisville. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Francis & Gertrude Gardiner Brownfield; a brother, Lt. Col. (retired) John F. Brownfield Jr.; and sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Lincoln. She is survived by sister, Patricia Lousteau, Southside, AL; brother, Gerald Brownfield, Logansport, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Crestwood Cemetery for Mary Gertrude Brownfield Alvey, 76, Glencoe, who passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge. She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. & Gertrude I. Brownfield; her brother, retired Lt. Col. John F. Brownfield; and sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Lincoln. Mary is survived by her sister, Patricia Lousteau, Southside; brother, Gerald Brownfield, Logansport, IN; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Garfield Lambert, Glencoe. The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. James Catholic Church of Gadsden. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church.
