Actor, Businessman. A native of Warwick, Rhode Island, he was the brother of actor James Woods. His films include, "The Hard Way" (1991), "Straight Talk" (1992), "Killer: A Journal Of Murder" (1996), "Another Day In Paradise" (1997), "Race To Space" (2001), and "Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story" (2003). He was also a successful businessman in his hometown of Warwick, Rhode Island, having owned a video store until it closed in 2000. Woods also ran for the Mayor of Warwick, Rhode Island, in 2000, and 2004, but he was not elected. He died from a heart attack at the age of 49.

Michael Jeffrey Woods, 49, of Nausauket Road, Warwick, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick. Born in North Kingstown, a son of Martha A. (Smith) Woods Dixon of Warwick, and the late Gail Peyton Woods, a decorated Army veteran who died in service, he was a life-long Warwick resident. He was the step-son of the late Thomas E. Dixon.

A graduate of Moses Brown School, he attended the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Woods was the Director of On-Line Operations for Hollywood Poker.com, and the founder and host of the Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational Tournament on Hollywood Poker. He was an expert coin dealer and appraiser for Aable Jewelry in Warwick. He formerly owned two successful local businesses, Skank Records on West Shore Road, and United Video on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick.

Mr. Woods appeared in several television and film productions, including The Hard Way, with Michael J. Fox; Straight Talk, with Dolly Parton; and Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story, with his brother, James Woods. Active in local politics, he was the Recording Secretary of the Warwick Democratic City Committee, and the endorsed Democratic Mayoral Candidate in 2000 and 2004.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his brother, James H. Woods of Beverly Hills, CA; his three children, Jacquelyn R. Woods, Sarah L. Woods, and Peyton J. Woods, all of Warwick, and his fiancee, Lisa J. Konopka of Warwick. He was the former husband of Carrie L. Woods of Warwick.

His funeral will be held on Monday, July 31, at 9 a.m. from the Peter J. Barrett Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Visiting hours are Sunday, July 30, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
